Hi, I'm Holly, the founder of Red Kite Tutoring.
When students come to me, it can be for a variety of reasons. For some, this may be their first experience working with a tutor. For others, they have tried it before, but it just didn't work out.
Well, I do things a little differently at Red Kite Tutoring.
Working with a tutor is a partnership, and like any partnership, it's important to start things off on the right foot.
When you sign up with me, the first step is getting to know each other.
It's your education we're talking about here. It's personal!
We'll have an introductory call and talk through what you want to get out of working with a tutor, find out your goals, and how you grapple with any tricky topics.
I'll then recommend a selection of tutors who I feel you would work well with, and let you choose who you connect with most.
This isn't just about giving you extra work, or handing the answers to you on a plate, but working with you, and giving you the time to identify different approaches or new ways of learning.
And that investment in you works!
Seeing that 'lightbulb moment' as you make a breakthrough makes my job so worthwhile.
So, how did I get into tutoring?
My background is in Zoology, and my keen interest in environmental issues gave me a great foundation to become a Science teacher, but I also have a keen interest in sport.
I love coaching rowing and enjoyed playing rugby until an injury sidelined me from teaching for a while.
I've always had a dream of starting my own business. With this extra time on my hands, I realised I could combine my entrepreneurial ambitions with my love for teaching, and Red Kite was born!
I've since made quick progress, growing the business from a solo venture and now have a network of trusted and skilled tutors. The list of students I work with is also expanding rapidly.
